Industrial Power Supply Controller

The requirement was for an interface between a PC and a high current industrial power supply. The power supply has voltage and current set-points controlled by 0-10V and outputs feedback signals for actual delivered voltage and current over the same range. Our design used the ubiquitous FTDI FT232 device to provide a USB to UART interface to the microcontroller. Control of the power supply was via two 12 bit DACs and monitoring of the power supply was via a dual 16 bit ADC. Appropriate signal conditioning was employed to buffer and protect the analogue interface. The board is USB bus powered from the host computer.
